HTML and CSS standards
Bringing more order out of the chaos. Switching from near-total reliance on Adobe GoLive to doing most of the coding and refurbishing with BBEdit, which allows much better validation of HTML and CSS. This meant dumping the headers and footers which were in non-compliant GoLive code, and replacing them with compliant BBEdit persistant includes. This massive undertaking did have the good side-effect of making it only a bit more work to replace the rather pedestrian navigation scheme, with a pure CSS menu system. If your browser does not properly render the menu system, upgrade to a standards-compliant browser! This may seem high-handed, coming as it does from the 9,345,987th-most-visited site on the web, but really -- standards must evolve, and how are they to prosper if we don't adopt them?
